Mehndi patterns often include symbols which have special meanings.

For example: Ganesh, the elephant God; good health and protection from evil.Growing vine / scorpion; love, protection. Mandalas; wisdom. Peacock; good luckbuds, flowers and leaves; new life, fertility.
