Guyermo Del Torro` s storyboards;
really good to look at. Storyboards which are works of Art in themselves. Did Pan` s Labyrinth, Hell Boy.
A good example of a extreme close up; ‘The good, the bad and the ugly’. Film of the eyes moving backwards and forwards.
Mid-shot; from the waist up.
Long shot/ Wide shot; includes the whole scene. e.g., London used in the background of James Bond. Adds atmosphere.
Tilt; up and down Pan.
Pan; scan from left to right.
Whip pan; really fast pan
pan and tilt; circular motion.
Crane; high up shot from a crane
a Dolly; if it` s on wheels or a track
Spider; trolley on wheels
Point of view shot; Looking through the actor ` s eyes. Used so that we can empathise with that character.
Over the shoulder shot; view from behind the actor.
Low angle shot; Someone` s on the floor looking up. Viewer knows this through the shot.
Very slow paced editing; shows emotions.
Fast paced editing; action, drama, excitement.
Iconic images; Michelangelo` s painting of the hand touching God ` s hand. used a lot in advertising, etc. You subconsciously identify with it.
Sound; used to build emotion.
Using a cartoon like effect; so that you identify it with the associated video game/ comic .i.e Spiderman.
actor running- camera will be on a track.
Quick cuts, Disorientating shots; reflect (Spiderman` s ) state of mind e.g, during action scenes.
LEGAL; you need permission from the public to film them from the waist up.
